Jean Gab – From Boredom and Injury to Progress and a Marathon

From injury to marathon, Jean Gab a client of Studio Fit U's exclusive gym

What changed in your relationship with training?

I’ve always been someone who trained a bit, but the love for training really wasn’t there anymore. Going to the gym had become harder. My work ethic had dropped. I had been doing weight training for a few years, and it became very repetitive. Honestly, I was kind of bored. Now, training and taking care of my health is actually fun.

What do you like about this place?

The environment is super warm and enjoyable. I feel like we’re all friends here. I also feel like the entire team is very knowledgeable, their backgrounds in kinesiology, athletic therapy and naturopathy really help with the “everything around training” part.

What have you learned?

For me, it’s been a learning experience: I’ve learned to manage injuries, become a bit more mobile, and train with more intensity but also got to touch on gut health, supplementations, different types of therapies. I’ve been doing movements I wasn’t used to. The discussions I have with the staff and Sam cover so many things—training, the body, how to periodization works, etc … That’s really interesting.

What concrete results have you seen?

I haven’t been this strong in years. The team helped me rehab a knee injury allowing me to run my first marathon. The knee injury would probably be a roadblock if it weren’t for the team here. The approach is just complete, you can’t find that elsewhere.

I also happen to have a shoulder injury that we worked on together and a few months later it was healed.
Now in terms of strength and how I feel, there are no words that can describe how my body feels.

Would you recommend it?

Yes, I recommend it. Actually, we recommend it to all our friends. We’ve already—well, not forced—but invited people to join. Because this is such a life-changing experience and there are no other Studio’s that I know that really focus on health-first approach, it’s really holistic.

Any funny perks?

  • If you come on the weekend, you get to talk with Sami (and that’s fun).
  • Harvey is often there too, so you might get barked at.
  • And if you’re nice, you get to choose the music.
  • Those are pretty great perks!
