From 239 to 205: How Faisal Took Back Control of His Health and Life

Can you introduce yourself?
My name is Faisal, I'm 29 years old.

What made you want to start training?
Midway through when I was 28, I felt like I had gained a lot of weight while I was working. I wasn't getting activity, and I gained a lot of weight over four or five years. I noticed it was taking an effect on my physical health—whenever I would go play sports, I was really lagging behind all my friends, and we're all around the same age. It was kind of nearing the end of my 20s, and I felt like I needed to make a big change in my life and physical health.

What was your initial goal?
My original goal was to hit 200 lb. I started at around 239 lb, and now I'm at like 205.

What results have you seen since starting?
I've been seeing a drastic improvement in physical health—losing a lot of weight but also keeping muscle, feeling stronger, and feeling more agile.

What other changes have you noticed beyond the physical?
I think there's definitely a component of it that makes me feel more disciplined. I'm able to do harder things easier—if that makes sense. Now that I'm doing hard things in the gym, everything that's either physical or even mental, it's like—I got through the gym workout, I can get through anything.

How has the coaching at Studio Fit You helped you?
Everybody's very knowledgeable about what they do. It feels like the whole team kind of knows what they need to do for each individual. It's all-encompassing—it's not just like I'm coming here to train. As soon as I signed up, we started thinking about: what are the nutritional goals? What do I need to achieve outside of the gym to reach my goals?

How do you feel today about training and your lifestyle?
I'm not discouraged by physical activity. It's one of those things that I want to consistently do now. And then mentally as well, just being able to develop that discipline in this area of my life has allowed me to carry that over to other areas.
You need balance for things to come together well. You can’t just be so disciplined in one area and then lack in another—it allowed me to see a bigger view of life.
